Welcome to Nelly Event!

Live a happy and complete life using the power of personal education!

Here’s a photo of my grandmother Nelly. She taught me the importance of personal education and was a very loving person.

I started Nelly Event in 2016 on her birthday June 5th to celebrate the power of personal education. Nelly Event Page is created to introduce the importance of personal education to everyone who is not living to their full potential.

What is Nelly Event?

Personal Education Page. Nelly was my grammy she was a teacher and also showed me the importance of education outside of school by repeating “…learn how to cook, clean, dress, do your make up and hair, learn how to be a friend, learn how to establish personal morals that benefit your well-being and so on…” She was an inspiration for a homeless man to go get his life back, she showed me compassion by never forgetting birthdays even of people she didn’t like, by crying at strangers people’s funeral really feeling their loved ones pain, she knew how to throw a fun party without substance abuse and everybody had an opinion about her sparkling character. She left too soon but left me a great legacy – to share the importance of love and personal education.

ART PROGRAM AT THE DAY CENTER FOR HOMELESS WHERE I HAVE A WONDERFUL OPPORTUNITY TO VOLUNTEER AND HOST A MONTHLY DREAM BOOK CLASS.

The biggest inspiration behind the Nelly Event blog and all the content I collect is based on a true story that goes like this: One day grammy brought to our condo a homeless man who was so kind to offer help carrying her groceries home from the farmers market. She let him take a shower, gave him grandfathers clothes and during dinner was all ears listening to his heartbreaking story of losing his job, addiction to alcohol if I remember correctly (I was a child), violating relationship with his wife and children, becoming homeless and diving into lasting depression. In Ukraine at the time homeless people were extremely challenged to survive unlike here in the US with all the charity organizations and churches. This man looked very scary, he smelled very bad and I did not feel safe around him, but grammy invited him to come over anytime. And he did. For a while he was coming frequently and all grammy did is she let him clean himself, gave him clothes, fed him and was listening to all his stories as a friend. One day he disappeared and so did our axe. All I said to grammy was: told you! Now that’s scary. She smiled and said: well, maybe he just needs it to chop some wood to stay warm. Long story short we haven’t heard anything from him and we had no idea what happened to him. Grammy said: all you can do is be nice to people and hope for the best. One day I heard a doorbell when we didn’t expect anyone. I opened the door and saw this man dressed in a nice suit with a box of candy and a bouquet of flowers asking for Nelly Aleksandrovna. The first reaction was: Who are you? Grandpa’s at work. He smiled and said: oh, remember that homeless man who used to come over? He apologized for the axe and I went to call grammy. I could not believe my eyes! Grammy invited him for dinner as usually and he told her that he got a job, got his family back and that he was so grateful that my grandmother was the only person at that time who didn’t look down on him and was simply there.

Maybe the story of this man is a worse case scenario but really life can get tough and anything can happen. Maybe not as bad but there are many people who are lacking love (love for themselves, for life, for the people, for the world around…) So I took grammy’s name and created abbreviation NELLY (Not Enough Love in Life whY?) And in Nelly Event Weekly Blog I pick a topic to focus on that can motivate and inspire people to live a happy and complete life.

Grammy was very serious about teaching me how to take care of myself and of my future family, how to provide service. What in her humble opinion I needed to know, was a set of life skills, wisdom to apply, ways to create security in life, etc. Things they didn’t teach us at school. Nowadays we are blessed to have so many life coaches and sources to look into when there’s a situation or a feeling we don’t know how to deal with the best way possible. And since grammy was a teacher and I know and value the importance of education I want to collect as much useful information here as I can to share with you. Also every day I pick out some important to explore subjects that helped me personally to find answers to my questions and create an exciting foundation to build my life on (aside of personal values and beliefs). As of now daily content is on 5 subjects: History, Inspiration, Geography, Science, Creativity.

Every week you can find Nelly Event Blog Post here on this page and also on my Nelly Event Facebook Page.
