Alice April Music

My Story…

I fell in love with music on my mom’s lap. She was a professional concert pianist growing up and played a huge variety of great songs. We sang harmonies and it was an out of this world experience!

Years went by and house concerts at my grandmother’s turned into passion for music. At 10 an original song came to me on our upright. Also I used to pick up an old seven string my great grandma played. On the 16th birthday mom got me my first guitar. I fell in love with it and started writing songs. That same year I played a few of my originals on stage for the first time at my classmate’s band gig at the local cafe Boomerang. Hearing people clap and feeling that connection and energy was the best thing ever!

Later on I started going to a lot of rock shows and after one of them was approached by a guy with an unusual greeting: “Do you sing?” instead of “Hello,…” : )

Soon after I joined one local band Волчьи Танцы as a back vocalist. At that time in 2003 they were in rehearsals and only played one gig but for me it was the first professional band experience. The guitarist at that time was showing me some fun licks, I got to play the drums and pick up the bass during the breaks just for fun and had a blast with amazing musicians.

Here is the band Волчьи Танцы in 2013 They have some new members but still rock as always!

At 17 I wrote a few songs Waiting For Your Call and The Stolen Key. Join my Alice April Music closed group to get them as a gift 😉

My best friend Jul made rock radio to introduce me to the music from the States. One of those bands was Vixen. I fell in love with their music and got inspired to start playing electric guitar. In 2014 I saw them on the show called Bands Reunited on VH1 and bawled my eyes out because I wanted so much to see them play live and record more amazing songs! According to the news they were not together as a band anymore…

Keep reading to find out what happened just a few years down the road 🙂

So I’m huge dreamer in action. And that is why I also call my fans Dream Hackers. Because I strongly believe that “Dreams don’t just come true, we make them real”.

Back to the music…

I moved to the US in 2007 following my heart.

Adventures took me on the trip to New Orleans, on the Rock Boat Cruise and later on all by myself to the Rock-n-Roll Fantasy Camp in LA. Sounds like a dream come true for a musician, right? ; )

I moved to the US in 2007 following my heart.

Adventures took me on the trip to New Orleans, on the Rock Boat Cruise and later on all by myself to the Rock-n-Roll Fantasy Camp in LA. Sounds like a dream come true for a musician, right? ; )

On the Rock Boat Cruise I got to play a few songs for the drummer of one of my favorite bands and interviewed the lead singer for the documentary I was working on.

And at the Rock Camp there was a surprise waiting for me 🙂 During the opening show one of the counselors was introduced – Share Ross (bass player from Vixen). I could not believe my ears at first! Long story short we met, got to jam together and became friends.

Share is not only an amazing musician and songwriter, she is also an incredible person, entrepreneur and helps so many people as a coach. Here’s her website – http://www.shareross.com/

My rock camp counselor was Bruce Kulick. We co-wrote a song Living A Dream (In A Rock-n-Roll Band) and recorded it at the Capitol Records with legendary producer Eddie Kramer. Also I got to meet the one and only Steven Tyler from Aerosmith and Marko Hudson an amazing songwriter who’s songs I fell in love with a long time ago. Our band had an incredible experience to open the show at the Whiskey A GoGo.

I returned back to Florida very inspired and motivated. Was performing at the local Ice-Cream Cafe 60 Sundaes frequently, won a local talent competition for an original song and Played at the Florida State Fair. Also had an amazing opportunity to be in a reality show called “Saving The Seven Playgrounds” that took me on a trip to Oklahoma.

During a short visit with the family in 2010 I recorded 3 more original tunes (What A Tease, Arise and Toothpaste) and put together an EP.

The songs were produced by amazing Yuriy Grom. You can request a free EP by subscribing to Alice’s Newsletter or joining Alice April Music closed group.

I continued working on new material after coming back to Florida and stayed in touch with Share on Social Media. To my surprise I saw a post about her moving to Florida about 45 minutes away from where I lived.

What happened next was a dream come true! I got invited for Christmas and soon after was recording my first album at Share’s home studio. Her husband Bam is an amazing drummer.

The moment came that I couldn’t event dream of. I was tracking my debut album looking at the picture from the Vixen reunion and Share was playing bass and singing harmonies on my songs! What?! In that moment I knew that miracles happen. Bam produced the album and also played the drums on it. Their friend amazing guitarist Jo recorded heart felt lead. It was an out of this world experience! Share did my hair for the photoshoot, I was wearing her star necklace … every moment was so special! Album Art was done and that same year “My Way” was released.

In 2011 I moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma. This musical town became my home. In 2013 I recorded a single called “Lifetime Story” with Jeremiah Kerby, played multiple shows and kept on writing new songs. Another dream I had was to open Alice April Academy – to share what I love so music with everyone who is as passionate about music as I am.

In Oklahoma I had an honor to meet Selby Minner who is an amazing blues musician, bass player and songwriter. In 2016 I was invited to play Dusk Til Dawn Blues Festival in Rentiesville, OK. Selby’s late husband DC Minner was a local blues legend. In his memory and honor Selby hosts amazing events such as Blues Hall of Fame inductions, Annual Blues Festival and multiple blues jams and group classes.
